True or False: a quick arithmetic puzzle at your own pace
True or False is a quick math puzzle game for adults. It shows a sum with its answer, like 7 × 8 = 54, and asks one thing: is it right? Tap True or False. (That one is false: 7 × 8 is 56.) A game has 12 sums, and you can play a round right here, free, with no clock running.

Quick sums: is the answer right? No sign-up, and speed never counts.
How to play
- Read the sum.
- Tap ✓ True if the answer is right, or ✗ False if it isn't.
That's the whole game. Each sum waits on the screen until you answer, and each one has an even chance of being true or false. Get one right and the next sum appears by itself in under half a second. Get one wrong and the game shows the correct sum, such as "✗ Not quite — 7 × 8 = 56", then waits until you tap Next.
Example sums at each level
| Level | What the sums look like | A true one | A false one |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Adding and taking away, small numbers | 7 + 5 = 12 | 15 − 6 = 8 (it's 9) |
| 2 | Adding and taking away, numbers up to 50 | 28 + 17 = 45 | 34 + 19 = 52 (it's 53) |
| 3 | Level 2's sums, plus times tables up to 9 × 9 | 6 × 4 = 24 | 7 × 8 = 54 (it's 56) |
| 4 | Two steps | 23 + 9 − 7 = 25 | 6 × 7 + 4 = 47 (it's 46) |
| 5 | Two steps with bigger numbers | 48 + 26 − 19 = 55 | 9 × 6 + 17 = 73 (it's 71) |
The free round above plays Level 2 sums, like the ones in the screenshot.
Two quick checks
- Look at the last digit. A false answer in this game is always a near miss: 1 to 4 away from the right one. So its last digit never matches. For 34 + 19, the last digits 4 and 9 make 13, so the answer has to end in 3. That rules out 52 straight away.
- Two-step sums work left to right. 23 + 9 − 7 is 32, then 25. When there's a times sign, it always comes first: 6 × 7 + 4 is 42, then 46. Either way, working from left to right gives the right total.
Scoring
Your score is out of 100. In relaxed mode it's the share of sums you got right, so 9 of 12 scores 75. The free round always plays relaxed, and the app starts that way too, with the line "Take all the time you need."
A member can turn relaxed mode off in Account → Settings. The game then says "Go as quickly as feels comfortable": right answers make up 70 points and pace adds up to 30. An average of 2 seconds a sum or less earns all 30. Pace earns nothing at 6 seconds a sum or more at Levels 1 to 3. At Levels 4 and 5, where the sums have two steps, that point is 9 seconds.
Questions about True or False
Is this the game from the free warm-up on the home page?
Yes. True or False is the third of the three puzzles in the free warm-up on the home page. It plays at Level 2 with no clock, just like the round above.
How big do the numbers get?
Not very. At Level 5 the largest sums are like 60 + 30 − 25 or 9 × 9 + 20. The times tables stop at 9 × 9.
What if I tap the wrong button by mistake?
The first tap counts, so there's no undo. If it was a slip, the game shows you the correct sum and waits for Next, and the next sum is a new one.
