About SharpDaily

SharpDaily is a daily puzzle game for adults 50+: 3 short word, picture and number puzzles a day, in large print, with no ads. It is made for fun, and that is all we say about it. We make no claims about what puzzles do for you.

Who makes SharpDaily

SharpDaily is run by Noam Yakov, a sole trader based in Israel, and made for players in the United States. It is a small, independent business: no publisher or advertiser stands behind it, and it will be paid for by memberships.

Each fact about a game on this site is compared with the game itself, and Noam approves every page before it is published. Our game and feature pages say who wrote them and who reviewed them.

How the puzzles are made

There are 12 games, each with 5 levels. The puzzles in them come from two places.

Fixed lists, checked one by one. The words, clues and pictures come from lists written for each game:

  • Hidden Word has 60 words of 5, 6 and 7 letters, each with a one-line clue that points to it, such as "Runs on rails" for TRAIN.
  • Word Groups has 12 groups, from Fruits and Farm animals to Musical instruments and Birds. Some words fairly belong to two groups (a duck is a bird as well as a farm animal), and those are never offered as wrong answers.
  • Spot the Odd One gets harder with closer look-alikes. Its hardest pairs differ in shape or direction, such as ๐Ÿ™‚ and ๐Ÿ™ƒ or ๐Ÿ‘ and ๐Ÿ‘Ž, never in tiny details that look different from one phone to the next.
  • What Comes Next? uses sets of pictures that differ in shape, never in colour alone.
Hidden Word at Level 2: the clue A striped animal, with Z and E placed and the tiles A, R and B left, above Undo and Skip buttons
Hidden Word: the clue "A striped animal", with Z and E already placed.

Rules, for numbers and times. True or False, Count the Change and What Time Is It? make a fresh question every time, from rules set for each level. The wrong choices are near misses, the kind people really make: change that is a dollar, a dime or a quarter off, or a clock read with its hands swapped.

How the games are checked

  • Automated tests check the rules of the games before every release: for example, that Spot the Odd One always has exactly one odd picture, that Count the Change always offers the right change among its four answers, and that Word Groups never marks a right word as wrong.
  • Every game has been checked in a browser at phone width, in light and dark mode, and at both text sizes.
  • Right and wrong answers are marked with โœ“ and โœ— and with words such as "Not picked", so no answer depends on telling colours apart.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help write SharpDaily's code and to draft pages like this one. Every draft is checked against the games' own code and rules, anything that isn't true is corrected or cut, and Noam approves each page before it is published. We don't publish reviews, quotes, ratings or numbers about players, whether written by AI or by anyone else.

What SharpDaily is, and isn't

SharpDaily is a casual puzzle game, made for entertainment. Your scores, levels and Puzzle Rating show how you did in our games, and nothing more.
