How to play
- Look over the grid. Every picture is the same except one, and a round has 8 grids.
- Tap the one that's different.
- Right? You see "✓ Found it!" and the next grid comes up by itself.
- Not right? Your pick is marked ✗, the odd one is marked ✓, and the game waits for you. Tap Next when you're ready.
- After 8 grids, you see your score.
Easy, medium and hard pairs
Each grid uses a pair of pictures: one fills the grid, and the other is the odd one. The pairs look more alike as the levels go up. Either picture can be the odd one, so one time you hunt for an apple among tomatoes, and the next time for a tomato among apples. These are the pairs the game uses:
| Easy | Medium | Hard |
|---|---|---|
| 🍎 🍌 apple, banana | 🍎 🍅 apple, tomato | 🙂 🙃 smiling face, upside-down face |
| 🐶 🐱 dog, cat | 🐶 🐺 dog, wolf | ⬆️ ⬇️ up arrow, down arrow |
| ⭐ 🌙 star, moon | 🌼 🌻 blossom, sunflower | ▶️ ◀️ pointing right, pointing left |
| 🚗 🚲 car, bicycle | 🍋 🍊 lemon, orange | 👍 👎 thumbs up, thumbs down |
| 🌻 🌲 sunflower, evergreen | 🐝 🪲 bee, beetle | 🐈 🐆 cat, leopard |
| ☕ 🍦 coffee, ice cream | 🚕 🚗 taxi, car | 🍐 🍏 pear, green apple |
The hard pairs differ in clear ways, such as direction or shape, never in tiny details that depend on your screen. The pictures are emoji, so they look a little different on an iPhone than on a Windows computer, where the picture above was taken.
Levels
| Level | Grid | Pairs used |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 × 3, 9 pictures | easy |
| 2 | 4 × 4, 16 pictures | easy and medium |
| 3 | 4 × 4, 16 pictures | medium |
| 4 | 5 × 5, 25 pictures | medium and hard |
| 5 | 5 × 5, 25 pictures | hard |
On a narrow screen, as on many phones held upright, the grid stops at 4 × 4 so each picture stays big. The scoring doesn't change. The free round on this page is Level 2.
How the score works
The free round plays in relaxed mode, and so does the app until you change it. In relaxed mode your score is simply the share of the 8 grids you got right: 6 right is 75, 7 right is 88, and all 8 is 100.
With relaxed mode turned off (Account → Settings), right answers make up 70% of the score and speed the other 30%. An average of 3 seconds or less per grid earns all of the speed part, and 10 seconds or more earns none of it.
Tips
- Look at the whole grid first. The odd one often stands out before you check the pictures one by one.
- Don't skip the corners and edges. The odd one can be in any square, the outside rows included.
- On hard grids, look at which way things point. Is the arrow up or down? Is the thumb up or down? Is the face the right way up?
- Look at shape, not color. The pear and the green apple are both green, and the apple and the tomato are both red.
- A wrong tap still shows you the answer. The game marks the odd one before you move on, so you can see where it was.
